About me

My qualifications, experience and where I practice

I am a qualified, experienced Person Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist Accredited with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I graduated from Sunderland University with a Foundation Degree in Counselling with a Commendation.  In addition to counselling, I also offer supervision to both qualified and student counsellors.

Additional qualifications include:

  • RELATE Certificate in Couple Counselling
  • NCFE Level 5 Certificate in Supervision.
  • NCFE Certificate in Bereavement Awareness and Skills.
  • CRUSE Accredited Bereavement Counsellor and Supervisor.
  • Currently studying for a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

In addition to my private practice, I am currently working for two Employee Assistance Programme Companies; and as well as counselling, I also supervise the practice of student and qualified counsellors.  Other experience includes more than 5 years in Primary Care where I counselled patients with a diverse range of issues; and Northumberland IAPT Service where I counselled clients both face to face and over the telephone.
I have also counselled for CRUSE Bereavement Care and supervised the practice of Bereavement Support Volunteers.
During my training with Relate in Couple Counselling, I counselled couples on a regular basis at Relate in Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

My counselling service offers two consulting rooms in two different locations.  One in North Shields and one in Newcastle.

I work within the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice to ensure excellent service.
